Writing for you

I write books designed to strengthen your intimacy and relationship with God. That can range from  devotionals, to Bible studies, to essays about things God shows me to share with others.  I also post encouragement and musings to the Restored and Rooted blog on this site.

One of the ways I describe my writing mission to others is this: “I use truth and tools from God’s Word to help people find more intimacy with God.” My heart is to equip people to come to know more of Him, to experience the love of Jesus, and to walk confidently in His grace. I am always thinking about my readers as I write--what can I share that will bless others as God has blessed me?

For now, you will find here a Bible study and a newly released devotional, the first in a planned series. You can order these from Amazon using the buttons below. And I am always at work on the next piece. So, come back often. I’ll be writing more…

Why I Write

Some Words About Me and Books…

I love words. I love reading them and writing them. I love thinking deeply about what they mean and exploring how those meanings have changed over time. I enjoy considering how words capture (and sometimes fail to adequately capture) the mysteries and meanings of life.

I have been a reader nearly all of my life. I am the oldest child of two educators, which probably explains why I learned to read when I was three (at least according to my parents). I have no memory of this, but I have many memories of reading. I was the kid who stayed up late under the covers, flashlight in hand, to finish out whatever book I was reading at the time. These days there are filled bookshelves in every room of my house except the kitchen.

Books have always been my teachers. I am a life-long learner. Curious. Admittedly nerdy. So, I love a book for what it can teach me, the places it can take me, the people I can meet through it.

But I love books the most because of the way God has used them to grow me spiritually. I have been shaped by all kinds of books, from my favorite fiction genres to my go-to: nonfiction. The writings of Christian men and women of faith throughout history, specifically, have deeply influenced my relationship with God and my character.

I cannot overstate the power that the writings and words of men and women of faith have had on my life. The right words are a powerful tool of redemption, reorientation, and refreshment.

“…and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Proverbs 15:23

Of course, the book that I never tire of reading, studying, and reflecting on is the Bible. I’m a God’s Word girl. Digging into His truth is an essential facet of my life, and discovering and sharing His truth is one of my greatest joys.
